Continuing DSPS Students
All continuing DSPS students have responsibilities that must be maintained to stay eligible with the DSPS office. DSPS recognizes that disability-related barriers may impact a student’s ability to meet standard timelines. Students experiencing difficulties are encouraged to contact our office so we can explore reasonable solutions.
Below are a few of those responsibilities as well as reminders and updates:
Request for Services (RFS) REMINDER:
Students must submit a Request for Services each semester to activate their DSPS accommodations. This process notifies instructors that you are registered with DSPS and may be using accommodations. No information about your diagnosis is shared.
If you have questions or need assistance, please contact DSPS staff.
Testing Reminders:
All test requests should be submitted online
-  and be sure to read all the testing guidelines prior to submitting your request
- At the beginning of each semester, check your syllabus and submit a test request for each exam you plan to take with accommodations. If a test date changes during the semester, please contact our office to update your request. Students are responsible for submitting test requests for each exam. If assistance is needed, please contact the DSPS office.
- All test requests must be submitted 7 days prior to the test date the instructor scheduled. Students should submit test requests at least 7 days in advance. Requests submitted with shorter notice will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and may be subject to availability.
Alternate Media Reminders:
- Alternate Media and Adaptive Technology training are available by appointment. Students should contact our office to schedule.
- Any approved equipment may be picked up directly from our office during business hours.
Accommodation updates:
- If you need to revise your accommodations or have experienced a change in your diagnosis, please arrange a meeting with a DSPS Counselor to discuss next steps. If your diagnosis is new or has changed, you will also need to provide updated documentation from your medical provider.
- Students are encouraged to meet with a DSPS counselor at least once per term to ensure their accommodations are working effectively and to review how to use them.
